Comprei um notebook Semp Toshiba com chipset de vídeo da Via (VN896), e tiva muita dificuldade de configurar a resolução da tela pra rodar em Widescreen, até enfim conseguir uma configuração padrão.

Primeiro havia testado o Uubuntu 7.04, mas apenas consegui resolução de 800x600. Modifiquei então o xorg.conf adicionando o modo 1280x800, mas na inicialização acusava fora de sincronia. Tentei por alguns dias, desisti e resolvi testar no Fedora 7, mas consegui apenas uns chuviscos na tela. Tentei então a distro que veio com o Notebook, a Insigne Linux, e vi que a resolução funcionava bem em 1280x800. Decidi pegar o xorg.conf e substituir pelo que vem na instalação do Fedora, e funcionou perfeitamente. Segue o arquivo xorg.conf:

Eu fiz o mesmo no Ubunto 8.0.4.1 e funcionou. O meu Toshiba é um IS 1462.

Alguém de vocês conseguiu fazer os efeitos da área de trabalho funcionar nessa linha de notebooks, da Semp Toshiba?

Eu fiz isso no Ubuntu 9.04 e também deu certo!
o meu é um notebook CCE win55

Eu testei este xorg no meu note ele é o sti is 1462.
O que aconteceu foi o seguinte a tela de login apareceu, porém quando eu coloco o usuário e senha ele não entra no Desktop, ou seja retorna para a tela de login. Por enquanto estou usando um monitor do lado do meu note.
Que maneiro heim....
