Erro na parte grafica do ubuntu 14.04 ao acesar o menu do unity ou configurações de programas. [RESO

Instalei o Ubuntu no PC de um cliente, mas ao acessar o menu do unity ou abrir o configurações de sistema repentinamente a tela, enão somente a tela como o computador fica inoperante, sendo impossível ir para ctrl+alt+F1.

Esse erro nunca aconteceu comigo antes.

Segui parte link (http://www.howopensource.com/2012/10/install-nvidia-geforce-driver-in-ubuntu-12-10-12-04-using-ppa/) depois fui até a central de programas, aba driver, esperei um pouco e apareceu a lista{antes não aparecia} e selecionei o driver testado, agora está tudo certo.
