auxilio placa grafica e travamentos amd64 e gforce 520

Minha maquina anda travando ou ficando lenta por usar linux ubuntu 12.10 creio que nao seria para ser assim a maquina e uma amd.
e possui uma placa grafica gforce 520 instalada, a mesma nao veio instalada quando o sistema foi instalado foi instalada depois.
OBS:o sistema esta em dual boot com win 7
