Erro ao instalr MPlayer

Bom pessoal sou novato no Linux e meu problema e, quando eu do o comando
"$ ./configure --enable-gui --with-codecsdir=/usr/lib/codecs --with-win32libdir=/usr/lib/codecs"
aparece esse erro:

same compiler as we do, or use --disable-gcc-checking but DO *NOT* REPORT BUGS

Note for gcc 2.96 users: Some versions of this compiler are known to miscompile
mplayer and lame (which is used for mencoder). If you get compile errors,
first upgrade to the latest 2.96 release (minimum 2.96-85) and try again.
If the problem still exists, try with gcc 3.x (or 2.95.x) *BEFORE* reporting
bugs!

tem q intalar os pacotes gcc, é bem facil


apt-get install gcc*


depois tenta instala normalmente...

Please downgrade/upgrade C compiler to version gcc-2.95.x or gcc-3.x!

Tente fazer o que a mensagem de erro diz:

Por favor atualize o compilador C para a versão gcc-2.95.x ou gcc-3.x

Na maioria das vezes quando temos um erro já é exibida uma mensagem mostrando como resolver ou qual o problema.

Siga a dica sobre o apt-get install...

Ele vai instalar o MPlayer e TODOS os pacotes necessários para o funcionamento.
