Salve pessoal!

Estou com o seguinte problema:

Tenho um note I7,64 bits, com 8gb de ram. Coloquei em dual boot sevem + backtrack 5, 32 bits (ubuntu 10.04) o sevem roda beleza, entretanto o backtrack fica lentinho e trava alguns aplicativos toda hora... segundo o sistema só tenho 4gb de ram e ela estranhamente parece nao ser usada! o grafico mostra o uso sempre igual e lá embaixo. Em contrapartida a CPU da altos picos de uso. Veio de fabrica com o Mandriva instalado, porem era pior que o Backtrack, lentissimo. Ja tentei o BT 64, mas não funfou...

Caso algum bom samaritano possa me dar uma força, eu agradeceria.

Acredito q deve ser alguma incompatibilidade com o seu hardware. Existem opções na BIOS q podem se adequar ao Linux. Ex.: colocar o HD em modo IDE nativo em vez d AHCI.
Outra coisa q vc pode analisar são os logs do dmesg e syslog (ou messages). Se tiver alguma msg anormal lá, vc pode inserir parâmetros no momento do boot para desabilitar alguma função. Ex.: irqpoll, q serve para driblar problemas d IRQ do hardware.

Analise a questão e nos d um retorno.

Instala ele 64Bits. Teu sistema só vai reconhecer mais que 4GB de Ram se:

2 - Instalação de kernel PAE(http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension) que te permitirá endereçar todos os 8Gb em uma distro 32bits.

Instala ele 64Bits. Teu sistema só vai reconhecer mais que 4GB de Ram se:

1 - Kernel 64, onde o limite é maior(se o processador suportar).

2 - Instalação de kernel PAE(http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension) que te permitirá endereçar todos os 8Gb em uma distro 32bits.

Pior que não da, eu já tentei... como disse, o note veio com o Mandriva 64 bits, já testei algumas distros live CD, inclusive o BT 64 live DVD e ficou pra la de lerdo... O que rodou melhor foi o BT 32 mesmo. Pode ser algo na configuração do Hardware, drives, Swap, particionamento... sei lá! Mesmo que só reconheça 4gb, eu queria ver ele rodando na boa. [/quote]

Valeu a todos, resolvi instalando o ubuntu 12.04 64, e deu tudo certo, tá rodando redondinho. Não é BT5, mas ao memos funciona.
