Modem no Ubuntu 8.10

Galera tô com um problema no modem do Neopc A1800 da clevo(Positivo), deois que instalo este driver, vou ao pppo e ele diz que o modem não existe:

vc já tentou sem instalar o driver?
tem o KPPP também para a conexão e o Xnetcardconfig para configuração de placas de rede, caso haja alguma incompatibilidade. ambos podem ser encontrados no repositório.
