aba hardware nao aparece nas config do som

pessoal uso o linuxmint15 e quanto fui assistir via cabo hdmi na tv o som nao funcionou... fui na aba coonfiguraçoes do som para alterar e la nao tinha opçoes de alterar, só consta "saida estereo analogico" e tb nao tem a guia "hardware" como faço pra resolver isso?
