o winxp não adiciona no dominio [RESOLVIDO]

estou tentando configurar para teste o samba no ubuntu + quando vou adicionar o winxp no dominio da o seguinte erro:
erro durante a tentativa de ingresso no dominio "redes"
o dominio especificado não existe ou não pode ser contatado.
OBS:eu configurei no opensuse 10.3 e deu certo, mais eu prefiro o ubuntu e queria rodar nele.

Na directiva "security", altere o valor "domain" para "user".

Adicionou o root no Samba?

continua dando o mesmo erro. mudei para user e dei o comando smbpasswd root para criar a senha do root no samba.
