Como Alterar resolução de Tela com o Blackbox [RESOLVIDO]

Boa Tarde à todos,

Instalei o Debian Netinst 6 numa máquina e instalei o gerenciador blackbox, estou precisando alterar a resolução que está por padrão em 1024x768 para 800x600, alguém pode me dizer como fazer isso? Já rodei a net inteira e nada.. Me ajudem por favor!!!

Então vc rodou na Internet pelo caminho errado. Basta modificar o seu xorg.conf, localizado em /etc/X11. Lá consta as informações para modificar. Caso tenha dificuldades, execute o comando abaixo:

# XF86config

Olá Renato,

Já tentei o comando XF86config, esse comando não existe, como não existe também o arquivo Xorg.com na pasta /etc/X11.

Só lembrando que essa máquina está com o gerenciado de janelas Blackbox e já estou acessando um servidor via terminal service, só que, com resolução 1024x768, onde eu queria 800x600.

Antes que falem, também já tentei o comando rdesktop -g 800x600 Ip_servidor e tambem nao funcionou.

Dei também o comando Xorg -configure para gerar um novo arquivo do xorg e deu o seguinte erro:

Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.

Crie o xorg.conf dentro do /etc/X11 e insira o código abaixo:

Fiz e deu Fatal Server Error....

Olha, tentei outra coisa, criei o arquivo xorg.conf com o conteúdo abaixo e mudou para a resolução 640X480... :( Onde eu queria 800x600

Notem que lá em modes eu coloquei 800x600. To achando que tem de configurar de acordo com a minha placa de vídeo que é S3, pois a que usei foi a generica VESA. Mais alguem para ajudar?

Se não me engano, o nome do seu módulo é unichrome ou via, dependendo do seu modelo.

Resolvido:

Subi o módulo da minha placa:

modprobe savage

alterei a linha no xorg.conf do driver:

Driver "savage"

Fico grato ao Renato por me ajudar.

P.S - Lebrando que nas novas versões do Debian, o arquivo Xorg.conf não vem mais na pasta /etc/X11, tem de ser criado agora.
