Por favor, tenho um notebook HP com processador Dual Core, 3 Gb e 320 HD, excelente estado, porem de alguns dias pra cá, meu linux ubuntu está lento, demorando até mesmo pra minimizar as janelas parace até um W. Vista (aquela M$%&¨da)
Muito obrigado e aguardo informações.

primeiro, poste aqui a saida do comando:

$ top

para ver quais são os processos ou serviços que estão causando o problema.

O compiz tá usando 80% do processador, tenta rodar:
# sudo killall compiz
$ metacity --replace
$ compiz --replace

Isso vai reiniciar ele, vê se tem resultado.

Desligar o Compiz, no Fusion Icon e trocar pelo metacity, ou

$ sudo killall compiz
$ metacity --replace


não tenho certeza (não Ubuntu user), mas é unity, acho que precisa mudar para gnome normal antes
