VMWare Server no Debian Linux 4.0 (Etch) (i386 e AMD64)

Para quem tem um grande problema em instalar o VMWare Server no lugar do VMWare Player no Debian Linux, eis aqui os passos a executarem.

Primeiro atualize o repositório do Debian:

# apt-get update

Agora instale os pacotes necessários:

# apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` build-essential libdb3 libx11-6 libx11-dev libxi6 libxrender1 libxrender-dev libxt6 libxt-dev libxtst6 libxtst-dev psmisc xspecs Obs.: Para distribuições AMD64, execute em adicional o comando:

# apt-get install ia32-libs

Crie o diretório:

# mkdir /var/vm

Baixar o VMWare Server em:

• http://www.vmware.com/download/server/

No site, procure pelos arquivos:

• VMWare Server for Linux (Binary tar.gz)
• Management Interface (Binary tar.gz)

Execute os seguintes comandos:

# cd /tmp
# wget [URL VMWare Server for Linux binary tar.gz]
# wget [URL Management Interface binary tar.gz]
