Problema som notebook kubuntu

Pessoal instalei o kubuntu 11.10 em meu notebook mas o som ficou horrível, distorcido e etc. inicialmente pensei que fosse problema no altofalante mas ai coloquei um fone de ouvido e o som fica da mesma forma, com a versão 10.04 funcionava normal. Como resolver esse problema?

OK tentei usar o alxamixer só que a prática ele só reduz o volume do alto falante para o mínimo se eu aumentar volta aos mesmos níveis, usando o lspci apareceu o seguinte:
