Depois de cada contrib acrescenta non-free, vai ficar assim

Salva, roda

# apt-get update 

para atualizar a lista de pacotes, e então

# apt-get install firmware-atheros 

O wireless já deve reconhecer depois dessa, mas ainda assim reiniciar a máquina não vai doer nada ;-)

Em notebooks eu prefiro usar distros "mais focadas" no usuario comum como linuxmint, ubuntu , fedora e mageia que tem melhor compatibilidade c/ hardwares novos por usarem kernel mais recente.
Nunca tive problemas com minha atheros usando estas distros.

O nome do pacote é firmware-atheros (http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/firmware-atheros) e ele está disponível sim pro Debian Wheezy na seção non-free. Se você não achou o pacote com o apt-cache search, é porque você não editou seu /etc/apt/sources.list para incluir os repositórios non-free.

EDIT: ah, desabilite o cd-rom no sources.list. Pode ajudar.

Meus dois centavos nesse tópico, apenas o comando abaixo não resolveria o problema e de quebra instalaria tudo quanto fosse driver "non free:

apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree (ou firmware-linux-nonfree, não lembro exatamente o comando pois faz tempo que não utilizo o Debian)

Geralmente durante a instalação do Debian Wheezy, o instalador indica o driver relacionada a rede que falta e o nome do arquivo, geralmente terminado em .bin que seria o driver.

Fazendo isso, cole um arquivo em um pendrive, plugue no pc durante a instalação e siga as instruções.

É a maneira mais certa que eu conheço.

Isso tá muito bizarro. Não usa os mirrors br (deixa ftp.debian.org), roda um apt-get update e tenta de novo.

Depois que adicionou o nonfree no arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list rodou apt-get update ?

apt-get update

apt-get install --reinstall firmware-linux firmware-linux-nonfree firmware-atheros wireless-tools
