Percebi que faltam algumas (bastante linhas) no meu arquivo xorg.conf, inclusive as de resolução do monitor antes chegava até 1280x.... agora chega até 1152x864, meu monitor é um LG 710e e minha nvidia esta instalada corretamente e com o compiz funcionando (isso é outra coisa que não entendi) sem um monte de linhas que até um tempo atrás, seriam necessárias. Estou um tempinho longe do linux, mas será que mudou tanto ????
Aproveito a deixa, para perguntar à respeito do emerald-themes, onde baixar esse pacote ????
