Compilar Programa

Estou tentando instalar o osiris em minha maquina e nao consigo dar o seguinte erro abaixo. Eu ja instalei gcc removi o gcc e nada. Alguem pode me dar uma dica.

apt-get install build-essential

Se é Debian mesmo que vc está usando...

Pelo erro é tem que instalar compiladores C mesmo !
Mas não seria mais facil instalar pelo sistema de instalação de pacotes da propria distro ?

Estou utilizando debian 4.0 - Linux debian 2.6.18-6-686 #1 SMP Sun Feb 10 22:11:31 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

rodei este comando abaixo conforme orientacao

root@debian~# apt-get install build-essential

E nao deixou eu instalar ainda.

Tentei instalar os pacotes libc6-dev com o apt-get e nada.

Qual comando que dou que ele instala todas as dependencias.

Tento instalar libc6 e olha a mensagem que da com conflito
