Dificuldade em instalar tar.gz

Olá pessoal.

Estou com dificuldade em instalar o programa: " xvidcap-1.1.7 "

Já rodou o comando ./configure

O comando " make " que não esta dando certo.

/xvidcap-1.1.7$ make
make: *** Nenhum alvo indicado e nenhum arquivo make encontrado. Pare.
ubuntu@ubuntu-desktop:~/xvidcap-1.1.7$ make install
make: *** Sem regra para processar o alvo `install'. Pare.
ubuntu@ubuntu-desktop:~/xvidcap-1.1.7$

Como que eu faço para saber se o make esta instalado?

Esqueça esse arquivo com pacote “.tar.gz”, instale um pacote “.deb”.

Faça o Download do “XVidCap” nesse link:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/multiverse/x/xvidcap/xvidcap_1.1.7-0.2ubuntu8_i386.deb

Depois vá até a pasta onde salvou o arquivo, provavelmente na pasta “Downloads”, arraste o arquivo para a “Área de Trabalho”.

Clique no “Menu Ubuntu”, “Acessórios”, “Terminal”.

No Terminal digite:

$ sudo

Clique “Enter”

Será solicitada sua senha de “root”, digite a senha e clique “Enter”.

Digite:

# cd Desktop

Clique “Enter”

Digite, ou copie e cole:

# dpkg -i xvidcap_1.1.7-0.2ubuntu8_i386.deb

Clique “Enter”

Aguarde o fim da instalação.

Como que eu faço para saber se o make esta instalado?  

whereis make
ou
whois make

# Se não indicar nenhum caminho/pasta, é porque ainda não está instalado.

Bom; entendi que fazer instalação .deb é mais fácil doque .tar.gz

Mais é o gosto de aprender como instalar em .tar.gz.

Uma coisa que não deu certo; foi entrar na pasta Desktop.

Meu Ubuntu é 12.04 é o nome não é Desktop.

Eu acho que é Área de trabalho do ubuntu.

Mas eu não consegui entrar na poasta da area de trabalho.

Recortei o arquivo e colei na minha pasta pessoal.

No final dainstalação mostra um erro:

Vou instalar.

Deve ser por isso que eu clico no icone do programa e ele não abre.

Instalando o referido pacote; preciso reinstalar novamente?

Não deu certo a instalação do pacote que esta faltando;
